Where Do You Want To Go?
We've talked about assessing the situation, that is, our current situation. What are we coming into this with? What’s our current state?
Now that have an idea where you are, it’s time to figure out where you want to go.
A future section will go into much more detail about how to transform our desired outcomes into the skills, habits, and behaviors necessary to bring those to life.
For now, we’ll keep this quick. Think ahead to 3, 6, 12 months from now. In your ideal world:
What do you want for yourself?
Where do you want to be?
What do you want to be doing?
How do you want to feel?
What adventures do you want to be having?
Who do you want to be with?
This isn’t a time to be hard on yourself. It's also not a time to worry about being "realistic." It’s an opportunity to look ahead at the person you want to become.
Look, everything you’ve ever done has gotten you to this point in your life. Good, bad, ugly. Doesn’t matter.
It’s just data. Inputs, and outputs. You did ABC and now you have XYZ. Want QRS? Well, we’ll soon figure out what DEF looks like to make that happen.
Figure out what QRS is for you. What do you want? Where do you want to go from here?
And I can’t end this section without my first of many tips of the hat to my mentors at Precision Nutrition and their "Destination Postcard" exercise for the inspiration.
